The Chrysler 300, if you haven't already noticed, is a big wheel deal (dub size or higher) with the hip-hop set, Motor Trend magazine said.
Chrysler has brought Beats by Dr. Dre Audio Technology to the 300, providing it with a 10-speaker, "high-definition audio system designed for accurate, studio-quality sound reproduction," the Vancouver Courier reported. The Beats by Dr. Dre already has found its way into headphones and smart-phones, and "it is fitting that the technology has shown up as part of the new Chrysler," the paper said.
For Beats, "the Chrysler 300 was the perfect car to debut the audio system," Motor Trend said. "The 300 is just a cool car," Jimmy Iovine, the legendary record exec and half the brains behind the system, told the magazine. "It feels good; it's hot; it's got the right audience. Young people like it, yet you can be 40-45 years old and love it." The logic behind the association is strong, a Wall Street Journal blog noted. The 300 has always appealed to an urban audience since the car was first released in 2004. "Putting Dr. Dre's name on a car sound system makes sense," the Journal said.
The sound comes out in stereo and not the "5.1" surround-sound style used in many vehicles, the Journal said. That surround system is similar to movie theaters, "but that's not how we make music! We make it in stereo," Iovine told the paper.
