Heavy-duty Ram mixes toughness luxury

Heavy-duty Ram mixes toughness, luxury.

The 2011 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn Mega Cab is just as much truck as its name suggests, but still manages to coddle tough guy drivers with leather and luxury in its cavernous interior, a review at Digitaltrends.com said.

Motor Trend magazine did an update on the 2010 Ram 2500 Laramie they are long term testing. They first discovered the Ram's civilized nature when it took top honors in their 2010 Truck of the Year testing.

The Motor Trend editors all heaped praise on the Cummins turbodiesel, which produced 350 horsepower and 650 pound feet of torque while averaging an impressive 14 mpg overall, and closer to 18 mpg on the open road.

Executive editor Edward Loh wrote that the truck can hold a near ridiculous amount of gear: "The cab is enormous. We were able to stuff six bags of gear (two sets of snowboard boots and clothes, two overnight bags, a backpack of climbing gear and some food), a long case with two snowboards in the rear seat, and a case of beer from Indian Wells Brew Co. No problem."
