The 2012 Jeep® Wrangler picked up three awards for being a segment and industry leader in resale value.
Kelly Blue Book's kbb.com honored the Wrangler as one of the industry's Top 10 residual value leaders as well as the compact utility vehicle segment leader. Similarly, the Wrangler received ALG's Residual Value Award in their compact utility category.
"Jeep had one of the better year-over-year improvements with a 4.1 percentage point gain in its 60-month residual value for 2012," Kelley Blue Book's Eric Ibara said.
Raj Sundaram of ALG said, "The Wrangler is iconic among SUVs, and Jeep has continued to build its status by pairing its famous rock crawling abilities with fresh features, improved powertrain, and a refined interior. Regularly updated editions stoke demand, helping it jump to the top of the Compact Utility segment."
The Detroit News said all Detroit brands should continue to improve their residual values. Chrysler Group brands are projected by KBB to retain 37.3 percent of their value after five years on the strength of Jeep and Fiat, the News reported. Ford brands are projected to hold 34 percent of their value and General Motors brands should retain 33.5 percent of their value, the story said.
