Journey features "thoughtful" design

The 2011 Dodge Journey is filled with "thoughtful touches," many of them borrowed from Dodge's minivan, that make the family vehicle a truly surprising replacement for the minivan, the Lakeland (Fla.) Ledger said.

"The most important part is what you feel behind the wheel: Steering and suspension have been retuned," and Dodge also has added the excellent new 3.6-liter V-6 engine, the Ledger said.

"The Journey's quiet, comfortable ride seemed more like that of a luxury vehicle,"the paper said in its review.

Driving revealed the Journey's strengths, the review said: The abundant power from the new V-6 is commendable; fuel economy around town is exactly as promised by the EPA; and the automatic trans-mission allows smooth, prompt shifts while accelerating.

Another surprise was the Journey's vastly improved interior quality, according to the Ledger. "The cabin is awash in soft touch materials and padded surfaces," the review said.
