The Dodge brand introduced five R/T models and previewed one future product, the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8, at the Chicago Auto Show, NY-Times.com reports. Dodge Brand CEO Ralph Gilles told The Detroit News the R/Ts have definitely earned their stripes? with unique handling characteristics, high-tech, high-performance engines, special exhaust tuning, sport-tuned suspensions and road-gripping performance tires.
"I really believe you can have your cake and eat it too,? Gilles said, according to Dow Jones. ?You can have a cool looking car that is fun to drive. A lot of people can't own three or four cars. We want to create cars so people don't think they have to give up something."
About the Grand Caravan R/T, the Wall Street Journal?s website said, "This ain't your mother's minivan anymore."
"When you sit behind the steering wheel, you will feel you are driving a sports car . . . as long as you don't look be-hind you," Gilles said, according to The Journal's story.
USA Today said the Dodge Charger SRT8 is "one model sure to quicken some pulses" with its whopping 465 horse-power and ability to leap from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than 5 seconds.
Motor Trend said perhaps the Charger SRT8?s most interesting feature is the "performance pages" that display actual zero to 60 times, quarter mile passes or the g forces on the vehicle?s infotainment screen.
