The
heavy-duty pickup truck wars have ratcheted up again with Ram Truck
introducing a version of its Ram 3500 Heavy Duty at the Chicago Auto
Show that will tow more than 11 tons of trailer, USA Today said.
The
High Output Cummins I-6 engine has increased torque 23 percent,
PickupTrucks.com said. It will be standard on all Ram 2500 and 3500
models equipped with six-speed automatic transmission, PickupTrucks.com
said, adding that the transmission also gets a new torque converter with
updated shift calibrations.
"A Ram Heavy Duty truck owner's most important concern is towing
capability 79 percent of them rate towing as extremely important," Fred
Diaz, Ram Truck brand CEO, said in the USA Today report.
In addition to what Ram Truck says is the best towing capacity in its
class, the Ram has the largest brakes of any heavy duty pickup, USA
Today added.
The Ram brand also introduced the Tradesman trim package that is
specifically set up for small businesses, contractors and fleet service,
Autoblog.com said. The new 2011 Ram 1500 Tradesman is designed to
appeal to this demographic, while simultaneously delivering more bang
for the buck, Automobile Magazine said.
