Dodge and the new SRT® division are bringing updated versions of past icons to the L.A. Auto Show on Nov. 16, AutoWeek reported.
"The 2012 Charger SRT8® Super Bee will break cover along with its partner in crime, the Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket," at the show, AutoWeek said.
Dealers will begin taking orders for the vehicles next month and deliveries will commence early in 2012, Kelley Blue Book said.
"Just as the bright yellow and black motif of a bumble bee is meant to warn potential predators that they might get stung if they come too close," the Autoblog website said, "the new 2012 Charger SRT8 Super Bee and Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket feature Stinger Yellow and Pitch Black paint schemes to signal their ill intent."
"The Super Bee package is designed to recall Dodge Super Bee cars of yore," starting with the 1968 Dodge Coronet, Automobile Magazine said. The Challenger was inspired by "the 1969 Dodge Yellow Jacket show car, a special vehicle based on a 1970 Challenger which made the rounds at various auto shows," Automobile said.
USA Today reported that "the new 'bee has a race-inspired interior with a three-spoke con-toured steering wheel, exclusive Z-stripe cloth performance seats with yellow and silver striping and embroidered Super Bee logos on each of the front seat headrests." To let every-one know what's under the hood, a "392 Hemi" badge em-blazons both front fenders, USA Today said.
